Many vision problems are preventable – but only if caught early enough. InfantSEE is a public health program that helps parents detect vision disorders in their infants early. InfantSEE allows all babies to have a free eye exam.
The official website explains:
“InfantSEE®, a public health program, managed by Optometry Cares® – the AOA Foundation, is designed to ensure that eye and vision care becomes an essential part of infant wellness care to improve a child’s quality of life. Under this program, participating optometrists provide a comprehensive infant eye assessment between 6 and 12 months of age as a no-cost public service.”
Infant eye exams are unsurprisingly much different than exams for older children and adults. At Mountainview Vision Therapy we have the clinical expertise and patience necessary to provide a comprehensive infant vision examination. We employ a variety of non-verbal techniques to make sure their eyes are functioning properly. This involves measuring the eyes’ ability to coordinate and the baby’s ability to react to visual stimuli. We also measure the alignment of the eyes and assess overall eye health.
We know you love your little ones, and we do too! While most infants have perfectly healthy eyes, we recommend not taking chances with your child’s vision. If an early vision problem is detected, you’ll be glad you came in.
